A Name and a Blessing

We blessed our sweet Trey a couple of weeks ago, on December 14th. Due to some scheduling conflicts, it worked out better for us to fly to Reno and bless Trey in my home ward than to have everyone come out to Boise. So Trey got to take his first plane ride! I was so nervous that he would be fussy or restless on the plane, but he actually did really well. He slept for most of the flights and even though our flights were delayed and we had to hang out in airports for a while he was still just happy and easygoing!

Ty's parents came for the blessing, as well as Rochelle and her family, and Kyle and his family came to meet baby Trey later that afternoon. We were so grateful to have so many loved ones around and that Trey got to meet more of his cousins!

He looked so handsome in his little white suit! As soon as I had dressed him I realized that  he hadn't pooped that morning, and he usually has a pretty good bowel movement right when he wakes up. So of course I worried about him having a blowout in his white outfit all the way to the church. Sure enough, Ty heard some pretty loud noises coming from Trey's car seat on our way to church. as soon as we got to the parking lot I had Ty basically carry Trey by the armpits into the bathroom and had him hold Trey up while I unsnapped everything. Long story short, we averted a big mess and only ended up with a tiny unnoticeable wet spot on the outfit. The things I stress about nowadays...

The blessing was beautiful. I'm thankful for the opportunity we had to be there as a family, and for Ty to bless our little boy. It was a sweet experience and I'm so grateful for the love and the peace I felt during that moment.

Afterwards we spent time enjoying family and celebrating the special day. Trey was passed around and snuggled and kissed by everyone. We had a great time catching up with family members we hadn't seen in a while

and by the end of the day we were all exhausted from all the excitement, including Trey!

Thank you to everyone who was a part of this sweet and special event for our little family!               We love you!

Thanksgiving 2014

My family came to visit us for Thanksgiving again this year because Ty had games that weekend and we couldn't get away. I'm so glad they were able to make the trip, the holidays are always better with family around! It was my dad and brother's first time meeting Trey, and our first Thanksgiving without Andrea. We sure missed her! We spent lots of time just hanging out at the house and loving on our baby boy!

We  also went to the tree lighting ceremony downtown and to a Stampede game

and loved on Trey some more!

We have so much to be grateful for this year, and family is definitely at the top of the list.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Trey at 2 months

I can't believe how much has changed in the last month. Trey has started to stay awake longer and be more interactive. He stays awake for an hour to an hour and a half at a time now. He loves watching his mobile and hitting it to make it spin. He started rolling over at about 5 weeks old and really hasn't stayed still since; he is so squirmy! He loves bath time and is overall a pretty happy, easygoing baby and we love spending time with him.

For a while Trey was a pretty serious baby. We have tons of pictures of him looking like this

Those huge eyes kill me every time! The only time he would smile was when he was looking at his mobile. It was so funny and we loved watching him smile and laugh.

In the past couple weeks he has started to smile and coo a lot more, and nothing makes him smile bigger than hanging out with his daddy! It is so cute.

We have also discovered that Trey loves being outside. I go on a lot of walks with him, especially when he's fussy because he stops crying the second we get outside. Most of the time he falls asleep and let's be honest, It's a nice break for me and gives me a little bit of quiet time! We've had to go out in rain and super cold weather, but we just bundle up and Trey is happy as can be.

The first month of Trey's life we had him sleeping in a bassinet, but he wasn't sleeping well. He would wake up the second I put him down, and if he didn't wake up he would make noises that sounded like he was choking on spit up and it freaked me out, so I wasn't sleeping at all. I started sleeping with him on top of me, but I was sleeping sitting up and not really getting any rest so I was exhausted all the time. One night I tried just laying him down in our bed in between us, and would you believe that he slept like a rock??! Since then we have been co-sleeping with him and It's really been working for us. Trey has started sleeping 6-7 hours at a time, and most days sleeps in until about 11. I know eventually we'll need to put him in his own room, so I've started putting him in his own bed to nap. He only stays asleep there for about 30 minutes, but we'll keep working on it.

At 2 months Trey weighs 12lbs 1oz and is 23 1/4 inches long. We love our little boy so much! We keep saying "is it weird that we're parents? I can't believe we have a baby. Isn't he so cute?" We can't get enough. We were both so excited when we found out we were having a baby, but I don't think we really knew how happy it would make us. What a privilege it is to be a parent!

Called to Serve

I should've posted this before Trey's one month update. Oh well.

Just 11 days after Trey was born my sister reported to the MTC to begin her mission in Cleveland, Ohio! We felt so lucky that Trey was born a couple weeks early because I was actually due 2 days after my sister was supposed to enter the MTC and we were sad she wasn't going to be able to meet our baby. Things always work out!

Andrea is doing great. She is so happy and says that serving a mission is the best decision she has ever made. She is so anxious to share the gospel with everyone she meets and is so enthusiastic about the work! We love reading her emails, they inspire and uplift me every week.

I'm so grateful for her example and her willingness to serve. We love you Sister Jimenez!
