Senior Night

Trey and I made a quick trip to Reno so we could be at my brother's Senior Night.
I was so excited that we were able to go to this. I've always felt like I missed out on a lot of my brother's life, especially football, since he was only 8 when I left for college. So it was a really big deal to me to be able to make it to this, and I'm so glad it worked out! We had the best time cheering for #6!

Go Danny!

We were also able to sneak in a trip to the pumpkin patch while we were in town! It was so fun. Our good family friends, the Andelins, own and run the pumpkin patch on their farm. I was so glad I got to see them and their cute pumpkin patch because it's become a very popular fall activity in Reno! Trey's favorite thing was the little train ride they had. He kept making the funniest faces at us as he went past us. Such a good time!

As always, it was a great trip home and I can't wait to go back!

Happy Birthday!

Our Trey boy is ONE!

This year flew by. He certainly kept us busy, so sleep deprived, but so, so happy. It's been so fun to watch him grow and learn. I love when I can practically see the gears in his head turning as he tries to figure something out. I have definitely learned a lot this year as well. I feel like this birthday is as much a celebration for me as it is for him. We did it! We both survived a whole year! It was hard sometimes for both of us, but we manged to figure it out. Being a parent is so life changing, and it took a bit of adjusting our marriage as well. So many changes this year, but all good things!

We decided to celebrate with just our little family. It felt like such a special milestone for all of us, and we wanted to keep it simple and intimate. Trey got some fun presents and his own huge cupcake, which he was not interested in at all. Is he even my kid??!

Happy birthday, sweet boy. We love you more than you know!

5 Years

We made it to Utah! Life is crazy. Moving is always crazy. But this time, with a little monster following me everywhere, it's taking me twice as long to get unpacked and settled. slowly but surely!

This month Ty and I celebrated our 5th anniversary. What?! Time sure flies when you're having fun, and we definitely have fun. Ty is my everything. He makes life easier. He makes me a better person. We make a good team.

We decided to celebrate by spending the weekend in Park City! With a little third wheel, haha. We had a blast. Park City is beautiful, lots of fun shops and restaurants, amazing mountain scenery, fresh air, and really secluded so it felt like we really got away even though we only drove and hour from our house. We also explored the Olympic training facilities which was awesome. I would love to go again soon!

Happy Anniversary, Ty. Love you BIG.

July & 10 months

Ty was able to come see us for the 4th of July and we were so happy about it! It was nice that still saw each other pretty regularly even though we were apart for the summer

We spent most of the month just hanging out in Reno. We went on lots and lots of walks. Trey loves being outside. We always went prepared for anything Mother Nature could throw at us!

We FaceTimed with Ty and just enjoyed spending time together! I am loving this stage with Trey right now. He is so active and curious and keeps me busy.

Trey also turned 10 months old in July! At 10 Months, Trey:

-Waves goodbye, but only if you say "Adios"
-Likes to brush his hair
-Climbs everything. One time he climbed on top of a 24 pack of water bottles and just sat on them.
-Walks holding on to the couch
-Has started to dance i.e. bob up and down and wave his arms

The sweetest boy around!

The Riverhouse

A few pictures of Ty's family reunion at the Riverhouse! As always, it was crazy, loud, stressful, and ended too soon. We love getting to see everyone! And this year it was so fun to watch Trey interact with his cousins.

On Being Home

Is there anything better than being in that one place you really call home? It's funny how anxious I was to get out of Reno when I was a senior in high school. I could think of nothing I wanted more than to leave that town and build my own life somewhere else.

Then I went to college and it was awesome and I met lots of new people and found my place in my new town, but still there was nothing quite like the relief I felt when I went home for the holidays or for the summer. I've been gone for 7 years. I'm married and have my own family now, and I still get so homesick all. the. time. But in all honesty, I love having a place that feels so comfortable to go back to. I hope one day my kids feel the same way about their childhood home.

All of that to say that this summer was pretty much the best because I spent the majority of it in the place I will forever call home. Even though I was husbandless and life seemed so up in the air for us, it was nice to a least be in a place that is so familiar, and with familiar faces. I was so happy to be able to go to things like my brother's weightlifting competition, and even just run to the store with my mom. I was SO grateful to be home when my sister came home from her mission. I love that she got to see Trey and that we were both able to spend some good time with her after not seeing her for so long.

And there is nothing quite like watching your family love on your baby.

Another fun thing about being home is getting to see old friends. I don't keep in touch with too many people but there are a few that I always enjoy seeing when I'm in town

This is Meckel. We've been friends since 3rd grade, when our families moved in next door to each other! We were always running back and forth to each other's houses and remained close friends even after her family moved (just a mile away!) I'm so grateful we've stayed in touch and I can't believe that now our babies are having play dates! So much fun.

I was also in town during stake conference, and ran into a really good friend from high school who was also in town visiting family. He's also married and has a kid, and it was so weird and cool to be standing in the building where we used to have seminary and mutual, and be talking about things like buying houses and careers, while holding our babies in our arms.

Since we had tossed around the idea of living in Reno, I was pretty excited about it and it was kind of hard for me to accept the fact that Utah would be home instead. But I'm so glad I was able to spend lots of time with my family before we moved, and that it will be relatively easy for us to come visit!
